Where Connection Comes Naturally: Play-Based Adventures for Neurodiverse Kids
Are you searching for a space where your neurodiverse child feels truly seen, understood, and free to be themselves? A place where their unique strengths are celebrated?
At Forest Play Your Way, we’ve created a supportive enrichment program for neurodiverse children, ages 5–10, where they can thrive through meaningful play, connections with peers, and time in nature. Whether running through open spaces, diving into loose parts play, or quietly observing, your child will be met with acceptance, encouragement, and care.

Inside the Forest Play Your Way Experience
A Typical Day in Forest Play Your Way
From the moment your child arrives, they’re welcomed by skilled staff who create a safe, supportive environment. The day unfolds naturally, with children taking the lead in their play.
The forest is carefully staged with loose parts—logs, sticks, fabric, and natural materials—inviting endless opportunities for creativity, exploration, and discovery.
Guided by Relationship and Regulation
Our team supports each child’s journey, offering gentle guidance and co-regulation tools when needed. We help children navigate interactions, build confidence, and engage in ways that feel natural to them.
Is Forest Play Your Way Right for Your Child?
Forest Play Your Way is designed for neurodiverse children who:
Feel comfortable navigating outdoor environments with minimal assistance.
Thrive in small groups with supportive guidance.
Benefit from spaces free of neuro-normative expectations.
If your child has significant fight-or-flight responses or higher support needs, they may thrive more with our nature-based occupational therapy services. Learn more here.
How Nature Supports Growth and Confidence
Nature is more than a backdrop — it’s a partner in your child’s growth. Research highlights the benefits of outdoor play for neurodiverse children.
Supports sensory development: Nature provides calming sensory input. “Outdoor play naturally engages the senses, helping children develop better sensory integration and regulation.” – Angela Hanscom, author of Balanced and Barefoot.
Boosts creativity: Open-ended play inspires problem-solving and imagination. “In nature, a child finds freedom, fantasy, and privacy—a place distant from the pressures of structured play.” -Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods.
Fosters confidence: Children take risks, make decisions, and build autonomy.
Why Parents Trust Forest Play Your Way
Forest Play Your Way maintains a 1:3 adult-to-child ratio and the program limited to 12 children. While we do not provide 1:1 support, these low ratios allow our team to focus on each child’s unique needs, offering guidance and encouragement when needed while still fostering independence.
Your child’s safety is our priority, and our 10-acre property is fully fenced with a single gated entry and exit point. This setup provides peace of mind while still allowing children the freedom to explore. As with any natural environment, we value transparency about potential risks. Parents should be aware that the property includes open bodies of water. These areas are monitored by our staff, who work to maintain a safe and engaging environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our skilled staff is here to meet your child where they are. Using principles of relationship, regulation, and felt safety, we work to build trust and help your child feel confident and comfortable in the program. We also value your insight as a parent—your knowledge of your child helps us tailor our approach to better support their needs.
For children who might need more time to adjust, we offer flexible program lengths. This allows your child to gradually build their capacity for extended time in a way that feels manageable and positive.
You’ll receive a detailed welcome packet one week before the program begins, outlining everything you need to know. However, all children should bring the following essentials:
- Water bottle
- Snack
- Bug spray
- A change of clothes
Dressing for the weather is also key, as we embrace the outdoors rain or shine!
No, Forest Play Your Way is an enrichment program, not a therapy service. While it is led by skilled staff trained in neurodiversity-affirming practices, the focus is on creating a low-pressure, play-based environment where children can explore, connect, and grow naturally.
